Oldest Religious Sister: 112-Year-Old Woman Shares Life Lessons

Sister Francis, a nun who has dedicated 94 years of her life to teh Catholic Church, has been recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s oldest nun at 112 years old. She celebrated her birthday on Easter Sunday this year.

Born on Long Island, Sister Francis has lived through important past events, including two World Wars, the tenures of nine popes, and the presidencies of twenty US leaders. She also lived through the Spanish flu pandemic and the recent COVID-19 pandemic.

During her 112th birthday celebration, Sister Francis requested her favorite Italian dishes: snacks, eggplants, and chicken salad.

Sister Francis’s ideology for a Fulfilling Life

When asked for her secret to a long and meaningful life, Sister Francis offered a simple yet profound piece of advice: “Teach until you die.” She also emphasized the importance of spiritual preparation, stating, “You have to become holy before you come to heaven.”

Currently residing in a convent, Sister Francis remains an active participant in daily mass and social activities. Despite a serious car accident at the age of 102 that resulted in a broken right hand, a brain bleed, and hip replacement surgery, she maintains a sharp mind and a cheerful disposition.

With a sense of humor, she attributes her longevity to divine will, saying, “God probably doesn’t want me yet. He wants me to stay here for a while. He’s not ready for me yet.”
