Ohio State Football: Styles, Reese, Tate Lead Workout Headlines

March 22, 2026 Emma Walker – News Editor News

Ohio State’s Pro Day, held today, showcased a remarkable concentration of NFL draft prospects, with five Buckeyes – Sonny Styles, Arvell Reese, Carnell Tate, Caleb Downs, and Kayden McDonald – headlining workouts for a significant contingent of NFL teams.

The event drew considerable attention due to the potential for a historic draft outcome for the university. According to multiple mock drafts analyzed following the NFL Scouting Combine, these five players are currently projected as first-round picks. Should all five be selected in the first round on April 23 in Pittsburgh, it would represent an unprecedented achievement for a single college program.

Styles, a linebacker, reportedly posted impressive numbers at the NFL Combine, including a 4.46-second 40-yard dash and a 43.5-inch vertical jump. He has indicated a willingness to play multiple roles on defense, a versatility that appeals to NFL teams. Reese, also a linebacker, Tate, a wide receiver, and Downs, a safety, are also consistently featured in first-round projections. McDonald, a defensive tackle, rounds out the group of five.

The potential for four top-10 picks – Styles, Reese, Downs, and Tate – has already drawn comparisons to historical draft classes. Analysts note that only Michigan State in 1967 and Notre Dame in 1946 have previously achieved the feat of having four players selected in the top ten. Should all four ultimately be drafted within the top ten, Ohio State would join this exclusive group.

While the focus is on the five players expected to be drafted in the first round, other Buckeyes also participated in Pro Day, including Caden Curry and Lorenzo Styles Jr., the latter of whom was identified as the fastest defensive player at the combine. Davison Igbinsoun and Max Klare are projected as potential Day 2 picks.

The NFL teams in attendance at Ohio State’s Pro Day will now have another opportunity to evaluate these players before the draft. The workouts provided a further information-gathering opportunity following the combine, where players participated in interviews and on-field drills in February.
