Odell Beckham Jr: NFL Return & Giants Reunion Buzz After Flag Football Game
Odell Beckham Jr. Is attempting to reignite his NFL career after participating in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic this past weekend, expressing hope that the event will serve as a springboard back to the league. Beckham, who last played in an NFL game on December 8, 2024, for the Miami Dolphins, made several notable plays during the flag football tournament, including a one-handed touchdown catch.
“Looking forward to hopefully getting an opportunity to play this year, and hopefully, What we have is kinda just a starting point,” Beckham told Kay Adams during the event, according to reports. The 33-year-old receiver’s participation marks his latest effort to return to professional football after a year away from the game.
The possibility of rejoining the New York Giants, the team that originally drafted him in 2014, was specifically raised with Beckham. He responded positively to the idea, particularly given the potential to play alongside second-year quarterback Jaxson Dart. “Weird, you said that. That sounds great,” Beckham said. “If that opportunity presents itself, I would love to do that. [I’d] be excited about that. He’s a good dude. He’s young, and he likes to dance. I like all that. So he looks like he likes to have fun.”
Beckham’s previous stint with the Giants spanned five seasons, during which he established himself as one of the league’s premier wide receivers, averaging 96 catches for 1,374 yards and 35 touchdowns across his first three campaigns. He earned three Pro Bowl selections during his time in New York before being traded in 2019.
The receiver’s path back to the NFL has been unconventional. He sat out the 2022 season while recovering from a torn ACL sustained in the Los Angeles Rams’ Super Bowl 56 victory. He then signed a one-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens in 2023 before becoming a free agent and ultimately not playing in the 2025 season. Beckham indicated his body “feels good” as he pursues another opportunity, according to reports.
While Beckham’s ability to catch remains unquestioned, questions linger about his ability to create separation against younger, faster cornerbacks. His performance in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic, where he showcased his receiving skills with a smaller ball, is intended to demonstrate his continued capabilities to NFL teams.
