Oakland Shooting: Student Shot at Skyline High School

Oakland, CA – A student was shot following a graduation event at Skyline High‌ School wednesday evening, November 13, 2024, authorities reported. The victim is expected to survive, according to police.

This incident marks the latest in ‌a series​ of shootings at the Oakland school, raising concerns about safety adn security at graduation ceremonies and on campus. Police have two suspects in custody as⁢ of 10:30 PM PST, and an⁤ investigation is underway to determine the circumstances leading⁤ to the shooting.

The shooting occurred after the Skyline High School graduation‍ event concluded. Officers responded to reports of gunfire and found one individual ⁤with a gunshot wound.Paramedics transported the victim to a ‌local hospital.

This is not the ‍first time Skyline High School has been ‍the site of gun violence.In September ⁢2023, the school ‍was⁢ placed‍ on ⁢lockdown after a shooting; police arrested ⁤two individuals and recovered a firearm, though no one was injured. Additionally, three people where⁢ shot during a fight that broke out at the graduation ceremony in May 2024, resulting in one arrest.

School officials ​have announced that classes will resume on Thursday, November 14, 2024. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
