First Entrants Set for NXT Title Ladder Match – The first competitors for the upcoming NXT Championship ladder match have been confirmed following developments on the January 20 episode of NXT. Sean Legacy and Shiloh Hill both earned their spots by winning qualifying matches, moving one step closer to competing for the vacant championship on February 3.
Shiloh Hill secured his place in the match by defeating Josh Briggs. Later in the night, Sean Legacy picked up a win over Eli Knight. The bout marked the first official NXT match for both Legacy and Knight sence signing NXT contracts, making the result especially significant for Legacy as he advances to a title opportunity early in his run with the brand.
Both qualifying matches were disrupted by the unexpected involvement of Tony D’Angelo. During each contest, D’Angelo appeared and attacked everyone involved without saying a word. After laying out Legacy and Knight following their match, Ava came to the ring accompanied by police officers. D’Angelo was arrested on the spot and escorted away, remaining silent throughout the incident.
In addition to the two qualifiers, it was announced that Ricky Saints has also been entered into the ladder match. Saints automatically qualified due to his status as the final NXT Champion before Oba Femi. With that decision, three of the six participants in the match are now known.
Three more qualifying matches have been scheduled for the January 27 episode of NXT. Lennox will face Myles Borne in one match. Joe Hendry is set to go one-on-one with EVOLVE Champion Jackson Drake. The final qualifier will see Keanu Carver take on Andre Chase. The winners of those matches will complete the field for the ladder match.
