NVIDIA’s Next-Gen Blackwell Architecture Faces Notable Production Delays
Initial discussions surrounding NVIDIA’s next-generation Blackwell architecture, codenamed B100 and B200, began in 2023, with speculation pointing to a 2025 debut. However, the absence of official announcements regarding the N1 and N1X systems at major industry events like GTC 2025 in March and Computex 2025 in May has fueled concerns about the timeline.
While minor issues were reportedly addressed through firmware and microcode updates, a more serious technical problem has recently emerged, according to semiaccurate.This latest hurdle is saeid to necessitate physical modifications to the system’s design, requiring a new silicon revision.
The process of implementing physical changes and producing a new silicon version is both costly and time-consuming. Optimistically, this could extend the advancement schedule by three to six months.
Furthermore, NVIDIA’s reliance on advanced manufacturing processes, such as 4nm lithography, means navigating lengthy queues at fabrication plants. This could further prolong the introduction of the revised silicon. Following the production of the new chips, comprehensive functional and performance testing will also be required.
