Breaking: Nutanix announced at Microsoft Ignite 2025 that its cloud platform will add support for Microsoft Azure virtual Desktop (AVD) in hybrid cloud environments.
Currently under advancement, the integration will empower partners with increased adaptability in deploying and managing virtual desktops. This move addresses growing customer demand for deployment options that avoid vendor lock-in, according to Jelaine Doncaster, Nutanix head of channel sales A/NZ.
“Azure Virtual Desktop on Nutanix AHV will deliver on-premise performance with public cloud scalability for burst capacity and disaster recovery,” Doncaster stated. “It also addresses critical compliance and regulatory requirements.”
The solution is especially relevant for highly regulated sectors such as financial services, healthcare, and government, where data residency and sovereignty are paramount, Nutanix highlighted.
By providing infrastructure choices, the integration aims to optimize control, performance, security, and cost efficiency for IT teams managing distributed workforces.
