World Photography day Celebrated wiht Call for Personal Photo Stories
In recognition of World Photography Day, observed annually on august 19th, NPR is inviting the public to share the narratives behind their most cherished photographs. The initiative aims to highlight the power of imagery to communicate stories, a principle that has been central to photography’s evolution as the invention of the daguerreotype in 1837.
Participants are encouraged to submit their favorite self-taken, unedited photographs along with the story they represent. Selected submissions may be featured in the NPR newsletter, “Up first,” on August 17th. The deadline for submissions is August 6th. Those interested can submit their entries via a provided form, which also allows for photo uploads or voice memo submissions.
World Photography Day commemorates the development of the daguerreotype, a significant milestone in the history of photography. over the decades, the art and practice of photography have grown into a potent medium for storytelling, often conveying messages more effectively than words alone.
