Despite expectations of crowded slopes and lengthy queues, a recent weekend visit to the Novako Jáchymov ski resort, approximately 140 kilometers from Prague, revealed surprisingly uncrowded conditions and well-maintained facilities. The report, documented by PrahaIN.cz in late January 2026 with photography by Jan Holoubek, details a positive experience for skiers and snowboarders.
The journey to Jáchymov took approximately 90 minutes, according to the report, with ample free parking available directly at the resort. While the car park was full, visitors were still able to find spaces along the access road without obstruction.
Lift ticket prices are tiered, with a family pass (two adults, two children) costing 1,600 Czech crowns. A parent with one child pays 1,250 crowns. Individual tickets are priced according to duration, with one hour of skiing costing 280 crowns for adults, 250 crowns for seniors, and 190 crowns for children. These prices are clearly displayed both online and on signage within the resort.
Beyond the slopes, the report highlights the quality of the on-site dining options. A nearby restaurant in Ostrov offered a weekend menu featuring substantial portions of traditional Czech cuisine. A roasted venison loin with white cabbage and bacon, served with a selection of dumplings, was priced at 235 crowns. Other options included venison cutlet (180 crowns), chicken roulade stuffed with spinach (175 crowns), pork roast in Hamburg sauce (175 crowns), smoked pork tenderloin (185 crowns), and pork schnitzel with potato salad (180 crowns). The report noted that the portions were generous, even impressing seasoned diners.
The PrahaIN.cz report similarly lists prices for refreshments at the resort’s buffet: a large espresso for 45 crowns, a large latte for 55 crowns, a 0.5-liter Pilsner Urquell for 55 crowns, a 0.5-liter Gambrinus for 45 crowns, a 0.04-liter shot of Griotka for 55 crowns, a 0.04-liter shot of Božkov Rum for 55 crowns, a hot dog for 45 crowns, a ham and cheese toastie for 45 crowns, 180g of fries for 60 crowns, 180g of croquettes for 60 crowns, and a sausage for 60 crowns.
Temperatures remained above freezing during the visit, and the resort’s equipment rental facilities were well-stocked. The report concludes with a positive assessment of the overall experience, noting that the substantial meal provided sustained energy for several hours after the visit.
