Forest Bolsters Defense with **Cunha** Signing

Nottingham Forest has reinforced its defensive line by securing the signature of Brazilian defender **Jair Cunha** from Botafogo. The 20-year-old is set to remain at the City Ground until at least 2030.

Deal Details

**Cunha**’s contract spans five years, signaling a long-term commitment from the club. He arrives shortly after fellow Brazilian **Igor Jesus** also made the move from Botafogo to Nottingham.

Before joining Forest, **Cunha** played in the Club World Cup for Botafogo, even scoring during their 2-1 victory over the Seattle Sounders. This performance likely caught the attention of Forest’s scouts.

Management Weighs In

“**Jair** is a young talent who has shown quality during his time in Brazil, and we are happy to have secured his signature,” stated Forest chief football officer **Ross Wilson**.

**Wilson** added, “**Jair** has flourished in Brazil and now has new ambitions as he moves to the Premier League. We know he will be warmly welcomed into the group here in Nottingham.”

**Cunha**’s Path to Nottingham

Prior to his stint at Botafogo, **Cunha** began his career with Santos, where he played in 24 matches. His experience also extends to the international level.

He has represented Brazil eight times at the under-20 level, contributing to his nation’s victory in the U20 South America Championship earlier this year. Brazil has won the U-20 World Cup five times, with the last victory in 2011 (FIFA.com).

Potential Exits Loom

The arrival of **Cunha** coincides with potential departures from Nottingham Forest. Newcastle has reportedly agreed to a £55m deal for Swedish winger **Anthony Elanga**. Meanwhile, Tottenham is interested in acquiring England midfielder **Morgan Gibbs-White** for a sum of £60m.
