Five adults were hospitalized Monday night following a stabbing incident at a residence in North York, Toronto police confirmed. Three of those injured sustained life-threatening injuries.
Officers responded to reports of “unknown trouble” in the Bathurst Street and Steeles Avenue area around 9:44 p.m., according to a police statement. Upon arrival at a home on Plum Tree Way, authorities found multiple people injured. Paramedics subsequently transported five adults to hospital.
Toronto Paramedic Services reported that three victims were in life-threatening condition, one sustained minor injuries and a fifth was taken to hospital for assessment. Police confirmed that three of the injured individuals had been stabbed, though the nature of the other injuries remains undisclosed.
One person has been taken into custody in connection with the incident, police stated. Details regarding potential charges or the relationship between the suspect and the victims have not yet been released.
A significant police presence remained in the neighbourhood for several hours as investigators secured the scene and gathered evidence. The incident occurred at a home near Bathurst Street and Finch Avenue West, described as a quiet residential street.
As of Tuesday morning, police have not released the identities of the victims or the individual in custody. The investigation is ongoing.
