North Sydney Boys High School Student Tasered by Police After Knife Incident
NORTH SYDNEY, NSW – A 15-year-old student at North Sydney Boys High School was arrested today after police deployed a Taser during an incident involving a knife on school grounds. Dramatic vision captured by Nine News shows officers pursuing the student, who was wearing a red apron, through the school’s courtyard and paved areas.
The incident unfolded as authorities responded to reports of a student wielding a knife, prompting a swift and tense standoff. While no injuries to students or staff were reported, the event has raised concerns about safety and security at the school and prompted a police inquiry. The student is now in custody, and authorities are working to determine the circumstances that led to the alarming situation.
According to a police statement, six officers urged the teenager to drop the weapon and warned they would use a Taser if he did not comply. After a pursuit, the student was eventually subdued with a Taser and taken into custody.
Witness Mathew Lyall, a tradesman working nearby, described the student’s demeanor as distressed. “It was pretty confronting, to be honest, because of the size of the knife… I assume it was a chef’s knife,” Lyall told Nine News, adding that the student appeared “not in the right head space” and was “shaking his head a lot.”
Police confirmed the deployment of the Taser and stated the 15-year-old is currently being held while investigations continue. A photograph released by Nine News depicts a plainclothes officer holding the knife recovered following the altercation.
