Dumont Calls Out UFC ‍Matchmaking, Vows Decisive Performance to ‌Challenge ‌for Title

LAS VEGAS ⁢-‍ Norma Dumont expressed frustration with the ⁤difficulty of ⁢securing opponents and asserted ⁢she’s prepared to⁢ deliver a statement performance this weekend to earn a title shot against the winner of ⁣Kayla Harrison ‍and Amanda ‌Nunes, currently‌ slated to compete in ⁣2026. Dumont faces Ketlen Vieira at UFC Fight Night, and‍ a victory‌ would improve her record⁤ within the promotion to 9-2.

Dumont believes a win over Vieira logically ‌positions⁣ her as the next challenger, ‌citing the‍ recent results ⁣of ‍other contenders. “Beating Ketlen, there’s nowhere else to go,” Dumont stated. “Who are they ⁤going to ⁢put [for the title]? Julianna [Peña] again? Raquel?⁤ No way. Julianna ⁤got demolished by Kayla, and Raquel lost to Julianna. There’s no⁣ one left to face whoever wins between Amanda and Kayla.” She‍ characterized the⁤ process of finding fights as a “big soap opera.”

While acknowledging her⁢ previous nine professional wins have all⁢ come by decision, Dumont emphasized her pursuit‌ of a finish. ⁣”Obviously, every fight we go in looking for ⁢the knockout, for the submission, but‌ once you get to the top of the division, you realize how hard it⁢ is to ‌get those,” she said. Though,⁢ she believes even a standard victory should be enough to warrant a title prospect given the current landscape⁤ of‌ the women’s featherweight division, though she’s aiming for “something extraordinary.”

Dumont anticipates the Harrison-Nunes bout will take place as early as January and⁤ hopes to bypass the need for another fight if the outcome is decisive. ‍Should an immediate ‍rematch be required, Dumont stated ⁤she is willing to remain active against⁤ top-ranked opposition. she questioned the potential return of Raquel pennington, ⁤noting reports of another possible surgery, and ⁤dismissed ‌a fight with Julianna Peña. Dumont⁣ indicated she would accept a fight with Yana santos if necessary, emphasizing her commitment to staying active. “I’m 35, I can’t stay inactive that long. And in my mind, none⁣ of them beat ⁢me anyway, so it doesn’t make a difference. I’ll fight everyone.‍ That’s how I’ll become ‌champion. If I have to fight again, I’ll be ready.”
