“Same numbers” Achieves Chart-Topping Success

J-pop sensation Nogizaka46 has secured the number one position on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 with their latest release, “Same numbers.” The single, which dropped on July 30, has already demonstrated immense popularity, marking a significant milestone for the group.

Sales Powerhouse

The group’s 39th single achieved an astounding 775,982 copies sold in its debut week, catapulting it from the 41st position to the top of the charts. This impressive sales figure represents the second-highest first-week sales of the year for any artist. It also surpasses the group’s previous single, “Navel Orange,” which sold 611,511 copies upon release.

The top three songs with the highest first-week sales in Japan this year are:

  • 1. Snow Man “SERIOUS” (909,496 copies)
  • 2. Nogizaka46 “Same numbers” (775,982 copies)
  • 3. &TEAM “Go in Blind” (620,541 copies)

Multi-Chart Performance

“Same numbers” also performed strongly across other metrics, reaching number 10 for downloads and number 27 for streaming. Additionally, the track garnered significant radio airplay, landing at number 6. This marks Nogizaka46’s 29th number one hit on the prestigious Japan Hot 100 chart.

ENHYPEN and HANA Round Out Top Spots

Following Nogizaka46, K-pop group ENHYPEN secured the second spot with “Shine On Me,” the lead track from their fourth Japan single, “YOI.” The song, featured as the ending theme for the drama series Ebi datte Tai ga tsuritai, recorded 575,330 sales and reached number 18 for downloads, also topping the radio airplay category. This achievement gives ENHYPEN their fifth top 10 hit on the Japan Hot 100.

At number three is HANA’s “Blue Jeans,” which has held the top spot for streaming for three consecutive weeks. The track is also experiencing increased radio airplay, up 115% from the previous week.

Rising Stars and Returning Favorites

LiSA’s “Shine in the Cruel Night,” the theme song for the latest Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba film, climbed to number four. Its streaming numbers are up 114%, with video views also increasing by 109%. Mrs. GREEN APPLE’s “KUSUSHIKI” moved up to number five, excelling in streaming (number 2 for the week) and video views (number 6).

Other notable entries include 7m!n (Seven Minute) debuting at number 8 with “JOY!,” veteran trio THE ALFEE charting at number 17 with “HEART OF RAINBOW,” and King & Prince’s “I Know” appearing at number 31. Notably, ORANGE RANGE’s 2004 hit “Hana” made its first-ever appearance on the Japan Hot 100 at number 47.

The Billboard Japan Hot 100 comprehensively ranks songs by combining physical and digital sales, audio streams, radio airplay, video views, and karaoke data. This holistic approach provides a clear picture of a song’s overall popularity.
