Long Branch, New Jersey residents prepared for a potentially historic blizzard Monday, stocking up on supplies as the state braced for its first statewide blizzard warning since 1996. Forecasters predict snowfall totals could reach 30 inches.
Dr. Benjamin Cohen, a dermatologist practicing in Long Branch, described an early morning trip to the supermarket. “I ran out at 7 a.m. To the supermarket and grabbed as much food as I could,” Cohen said. “Filled my car up with gas and I’m going to enjoy not working tomorrow.”
Cohen, who has been practicing medicine in Long Branch for over 38 years, admitted to learning from a previous underestimation of a winter storm. “I didn’t believe the last one, so I wasn’t prepared. I learned from my mistake,” he said, recalling difficult driving conditions. “This time I got what I need. I just have to gain more water.” According to NPI records, Cohen’s medical specialization is dermatology and he has been practicing since 1988.
Before the heaviest snowfall is expected to begin, Cohen plans to have brunch with friends. “It’s not going to start until later, right?” he said. “This is the calm before it all begins.”
George Nikolis, a six-year resident of the area, echoed the sentiment of preparation. “My fiancée and I stocked up on essentials for the next two to three days,” Nikolis said. “Based on the forecast, it looks like conditions will deteriorate quickly.”
Dr. Cohen’s practice, Dermatology And Laser Center Pa, is located at 279 3rd Ave in Long Branch, and can be reached at (732) 222-8323. He accepts Medicare-approved amounts as full payment, according to multiple online profiles.
