Nikon Z 9 Firmware Update Version 2.00: Enhanced Features and Improved Workflow
Nikon has released firmware version 2.00 for the Z 9 camera, bringing a suite of new features and improvements designed to enhance both image quality and shooting efficiency. The update focuses on expanding creative possibilities, streamlining workflows, and bolstering connectivity.
1. Enhanced Image Provenance and Editing Data
The latest firmware strengthens the Z 9’s image provenance capabilities. The camera now provides more detailed information regarding image creation and editing history. Users can review this data to verify the authenticity and integrity of their images. It’s crucial to note that edits made after initial capture are flagged, and provenance information is not embedded in images edited directly within the camera. This data is accessible through Nikon Imaging Cloud.2. Automated Capture for Challenging Scenarios
Firmware 2.00 introduces the Auto Capture function, enabling automated shooting based on pre-defined parameters. Photographers can specify subject type, movement direction, and shooting distance range to capture difficult-to-obtain shots – particularly useful when minimizing disturbance to wildlife or requiring remote operation. The function includes a scheduling feature to optimize battery life by allowing users to set a specific start time for automated shooting. When paired with a commercially available USB-to-Ethernet adapter (USB Type-C connector – consult the user manual for compatible models), high-speed data transfer to remote locations is absolutely possible, catering to professional needs. The advanced distance feature requires a NIKKOR Z lens for functionality.
3. Operational Improvements and New Functionality
Several enhancements have been made to improve the overall user experience:
Eye Sensor override: A new “Automatic monitor display switch” function allows users to disable the eye sensor when using the vari-angle monitor, a first for the nikon Z series.
Manual Focus Zoom Exit: A half-press of the shutter button now exits zoom view when using manual focus.
Combined Shooting Modes: Pixel shift shooting can now be used in conjunction with focus shift shooting or AE bracketing for increased creative control.
Recallable Shooting Functions: Users can now assign custom controls to recall previously saved shooting settings, including mode, shutter speed, aperture, and ISO.
USB Streaming: The Z 9 can now function as a webcam via USB connection to a computer or smartphone, supporting UVC/UAC standards. Automatic Firmware Updates: firmware updates are now automatically installed when the camera connects to nikon Imaging Cloud.Users are advised to ensure the camera’s date and time are correctly set to avoid connection issues.
* Simplified Imaging Recipe Updates: A confirmation dialog now appears on the camera’s monitor after registering an imaging recipe in Nikon Imaging Cloud, streamlining the update process.
This firmware update reinforces Nikon’s commitment to continuous improvement and provides Z 9 users with powerful new tools to elevate their photography.
