Nicole Kidman & Simon Baker: Romance Rumors Debunked?
Rumors of a blossoming romance between Nicole Kidman and fellow Australian actor Simon Baker are circulating after the pair were repeatedly seen displaying close affection following Kidman’s recent separation from Keith Urban. The speculation began following the New York City premiere of their Prime Video thriller, “Scarpetta,” on March 3, and continued at subsequent after-party events.
Sources at the premiere and after-party reported a noticeable connection between the two actors. According to one source cited by The Sun, “Nicole and Simon’s closeness is definitely the talk of the town right now. They’re incredible together on screen and when you see them together in real life, that chemistry clearly wasn’t faked.” The pair were observed holding hands and engaged in deep conversation throughout the evening.
Although, a source close to both Kidman and Baker dismissed the reports as unfounded. Speaking to Page Six, the source stated, “Here’s absolutely false. They’ve known each other for years and are good friends. That is it.” Representatives for both actors have not yet responded to requests for comment.
Kidman, 58, and Baker, 56, play a married couple in “Scarpetta,” with Kidman portraying forensic pathologist Dr. Kay Scarpetta and Baker as her husband, Benton Wesley. Their on-screen chemistry appears to have translated into a comfortable rapport off-screen, fueling the current speculation. Kidman and Urban announced their separation earlier this year, bringing an complete to their 16-year marriage.
Adding another layer to their connection, Kidman is the godmother to Baker’s son, a relationship stemming from their long-standing friendship. Baker was married to Rebecca Rigg from 1998 to 2020. Kidman was previously married to Tom Cruise, with whom she shares two children, before their divorce in 2001.
The timing of the rumored closeness coincides with the promotional campaign for “Scarpetta,” leading some to suggest the attention may be strategically generated to boost interest in the series. As of Tuesday, March 24, 2026, neither Kidman nor Baker has publicly addressed the rumors directly.
