After a 33-year absence, National Football League (NFL) games will return to free-to-air television in Spain, beginning with the Madrid Game 2025-the first regular season NFL game played in the country.Mediaset España, through its channels Cuatro and digital platform Mediaset Infinity, has secured broadcasting rights to 37 NFL games annually, including regular season matchups, playoff contests, and culminating with Super Bowl LX on February 8, 2025, from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.
This landmark agreement marks a important expansion of the NFL’s reach in Spain, offering broader accessibility to both established fans and a new audience. Cuatro will broadcast 18 games each year, while Mediaset Infinity will stream an additional 19.The deal aims to solidify a weekly viewing tradition for NFL fans and capitalize on the league’s growing international popularity.
Beyond live game coverage, Mediaset’s sports outlet, ElDesmarque, will enhance its NFL presence with dedicated segments within its news programming and a weekly late-night show focused on game analysis, highlights, and player profiles. The broadcast team will feature familiar voices to Spanish audiences, including commentators José Antonio Ponseti, Iker Sagasti, and Javier Gómez, alongside analysts Luis Jones and David “Serpi.”
The broadcasting schedule will prioritize “Sunday Night” games on Cuatro, with a second weekly game and major events-playoffs and the Super Bowl-available on Mediaset Infinity. This multi-platform approach is designed to cater to both casual viewers and dedicated NFL followers, fostering continued growth of the sport’s fanbase in Spain.
