AWS Launches Next-Generation M8i and M8i-Flex EC2 Instances
SEATTLE – november 29, 2023 – Amazon Web Services (AWS) today announced the general availability of its new M8i and M8i-Flex Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) instances, offering customers enhanced price performance for a broad range of workloads. The instances, powered by 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors, deliver a meaningful leap in compute capabilities and are designed to seamlessly integrate with existing applications.
These new instances arrive as businesses increasingly seek to optimize cloud spending while maintaining-or improving-application performance. The M8i and M8i-Flex instances provide a compelling upgrade path for users of earlier generation general-purpose instances, requiring no application or workload modifications. They are notably well-suited for web and application servers, microservices, gaming, and advancement environments, offering substantial cost savings and improved efficiency.
The M8i instances are available in sizes ranging from 8 vCPUs to 96 vCPUs, with memory options from 32 GiB to 384 GiB.M8i-Flex instances offer even greater adaptability, allowing customers to independently scale compute and memory resources. A representative M8i-Flex instance, the 8i-flex.16xlarge, features 128 vCPUs, 512 GiB of memory, and supports up to 30 EBS-optimized volumes and up to 20 network interfaces.
Currently, the M8i and M8i-Flex instances are available in four AWS Regions: US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (Oregon), and Europe (Spain).
