Baron Davis to Host New Raiders Talk Show
Former NBA Star to Dive Deep into Silver and Black Culture
Basketball legend Baron Davis is stepping into the football spotlight, set to host a new show, Raiders: Talk of the Nation. The former NBA All-Star, a lifelong fan, will offer his unique perspective on the Raiders’ lifestyle, culture, and community impact.
A Fan’s Passion Meets Media Acumen
Davis, who developed his deep connection to the Raiders during his youth in Los Angeles, sees the show as a chance to bridge sports worlds. He plans to explore the spirit of football and the passion of fandom from both a fan’s and an athlete’s viewpoint.
“I’m super excited,” Davis said about the opportunity to engage with the organization and Raider Nation. “As a fan and former athlete, it is going to be fun to be able to tap into players and coaches personalities.”
The 30-minute series, produced by the Emmy Award-winning Silver & Black Productions, will feature interviews with a diverse range of guests, including media personalities and celebrities, all viewed through the lens of Raider Nation.
Bridging Sports Worlds
Davis highlighted the show’s potential to explore the significant intersection of sports and culture. “This isn’t just a show about Raider Nation — it’s about the spirit of football, the passion of fandom and the strength of community,” he stated. “From both a fan’s perspective and a basketball player lens, it’s a first-of-its-kind project that truly bridges the gap between sports worlds.”
He emphasized his goal for viewers: “I want the fans to feel connected to the players and coaches.”
Connecting with Legends and Current Stars
During a recent visit to the Intermountain Health Performance Center, Davis met with current players, including star Maxx Crosby. He also reminisced about his affinity for past Raiders greats.
“It’s Al Davis, it’s Charles Woodson, it’s Ronnie Lott, Marcus Allen,” Davis recalled. “I became tight with Marcus Allen and Ronnie Lott both became mentors to me.”
Beyond the Court: Entrepreneurship and Content Creation
Since retiring from professional basketball, Davis has built a successful career as an investor and entrepreneur. His venture, Business Inside The Game, offers a members-only platform for networking and investment opportunities. He also founded companies like Sports, Lifestyle in Culture and Oatmeal Radio Cafe, focusing on creating empowering content for global audiences.
As of early 2024, the Las Vegas Raiders had achieved a 48.7% win rate in regular season games since their inception, a testament to the enduring legacy Davis hopes to explore. [Pro-Football-Reference]
