NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Nashville department of Transportation crews worked overnight to continue clearing roads. NDOT Deputy Director Phillip Jones said they’ve cleared over 10,000 lane miles since the storm hit this weekend.
Though, around 1 p.m., Jones reported approximately 800 tree locations still require attention.
Recovery from the weekend’s storm is a massive effort, and officials are requesting patience and cooperation from the city.
“Thes have been very challenging times for everyone, and we certainly know it’s difficult in these cold temperatures, but we ask for your patience,” said Metro Nashville Police Chief John Drake.
The police department is working through a meaningful backlog of calls. They initially faced over 400 pending calls,a number now reduced by about half.
Officials urge residents to reserve 911 calls for genuine emergencies, like active downed wires and life-threatening situations.
Mayor Freddie O’Connell had a straightforward request for those experiencing long 911 hold times: “Please do not hang up.”
“Someone will assist you as quickly as possible,” he said.
