NASA Opens Accreditation for Media Covering Artemis II Lunar Launch
CAPE CANAVERAL,FL – NASA is inviting media representatives to cover the highly anticipated launch of the Artemis II lunar mission,scheduled to lift off from Kennedy Space Center in Florida aboard the agency’s Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and Orion spacecraft. The mission will validate critical systems and hardware necessary for future human deep space exploration, marking a significant step toward returning astronauts to the Moon and eventually, mars.
The Artemis II mission is a pivotal element of NASA’s Artemis program, representing a new era of human spaceflight. This mission will send a crew of four astronauts on a journey that will test the orion spacecraft’s life support systems and capabilities in the harsh surroundings of deep space. The launch will be a landmark event, paving the way for new American crewed missions to the lunar surface.
Media accreditation is required to access launch viewing opportunities. Non-U.S.citizens must submit requests by Sunday, November 30, while U.S. citizens have until Monday, December 8 to apply. Journalists holding annual accreditations to Kennedy Space Center must still request access for this specific launch. accreditation for the artemis II launch also grants access to pre-launch events, including a presentation of the integrated rocket and spacecraft several weeks prior to liftoff; details regarding release dates for these events will be forthcoming.
Applications must be submitted online at https://media.ksc.nasa.gov. Due to high demand, access to launch activities will be limited, and approval confirmations will be sent via email, including details on pre- and post-launch events.
