Mysterious Creature Startles Surfers off Uruguay Coast (Video)
Punta del Este, Uruguay – A group of surfers off Bikini Beach, near Punta del Este, Uruguay, had a startling encounter with an unidentified marine creature this week. Teh surfers were in the lineup when the organism breached the water nearby, leaving them puzzled and shaken.
Footage of the incident has surfaced, prompting speculation about the animal’s identity. Surfer Andrés Fernández, one of three in the water at the time, described the encounter too Duke Surf.
“What I’m going to say is vrey confusing: I heard a whale-like noise (the blowing sound) and when I looked, I saw a black back with no visible dorsal fin, but it had little scales. It seemed like everything in the centre of the spine had little scales. Like a single row of scales… I looked for whales that had that and I didn’t find any,” fernández said.
The creature was estimated to be approximately 70 centimeters to a meter in width and appeared to descend to the ocean floor and disappear shortly after surfacing. Fernández noted it seemed to be accompanied by others,”like a herd of something with a larger animal.”
While a fin resembling that of a shark was briefly visible in the footage, Fernández remains unsure of the creature’s classification. Fortunately, no one was harmed, and the surfers continued their session.
The incident highlights the vast unknowns that still exist within our oceans,even in relatively well-traveled coastal waters.
