MrBeast Donates $10,000 to Wrestler Syko Stu Following Attack
YouTuber Jimmy Donaldson, known as MrBeast, has donated $10,000 to a GoFundMe campaign supporting the recovery of professional wrestler Stuart Smith, also known as Syko Stu. The donation comes after Smith was seriously injured during an incident at a KnokX Pro wrestling event in Los Angeles on Saturday.
the GoFundMe campaign, “Help Support Syko Stu’s Recovery Journey,” has raised over $90,000 to cover Smith’s medical expenses, recovery support, and lost income.
The attack was carried out by raja Jackson, son of UFC Hall of Famer Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. KnokX pro Wrestling has described the incident as a planned spot that escalated into “a selfish, irresponsible act of violence.”
MrBeast, whose main YouTube channel boasts over 420 million subscribers, responded to news of the attack earlier this week, stating on Twitter: “Dang man, this hurts to see. Especially as I read he was a veteran that used wrestling as an outlet to get over ptsd,” He added, “Genuinely, if anyone connected to him knows of a way I can definitely help please reach out. If his kid is a fan or I can definitely help with hospital bills idk but I’ll help.”
Other wrestling personalities have also contributed to the GoFundMe. Chris Jericho donated $2,500, and Swerve Strickland contributed $1,000. Additional donors include Rusev, Ariya Daivari, and NBA player Kristaps Porzingis.
in a Facebook post on Monday night, Stu Smith’s brother, Andrew Smith, provided an update on his condition, stating that Stu is “currently conscious and able to talk but will have a arduous recovery ahead.” Andrew Smith also noted his brother appreciates the outpouring of support.
Following the incident, WWE terminated its relationship with KnokX pro Wrestling, ending the promotion’s participation in the WWE ID program.
The Los Angeles Police Department is continuing its inquiry into the attack.
