Morocco’s King Calls for Peace,Reopens Syrian Embassy Amidst arab Summit
Baghdad,Iraq – King Mohammed VI of Morocco addressed the 34th summit of the Arab states League in Baghdad,calling for renewed efforts towards regional stability and cooperation. The king’s speech, delivered by Foreign Affairs minister Nasser Bourita, emphasized Morocco’s commitment to joint Arab action and peaceful resolutions to ongoing conflicts.
A Call for Ceasefire in Palestinian Territories
Amidst escalating tensions, King Mohammed VI urged immediate de-escalation in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
His Majesty King Mohammed VI called for immediate arrest of military operations in the West Bank and in the Gaza strip and on return to the negotiation table to revive the truce agreement and ultimately reach the proclamation of a final ceasefire.
The king also called for urgent humanitarian intervention.
Emergency intervention to put an end to Israeli military assaults against the West Bank, and more particularly to the operations of demolition of housing and the forced displacement of peaceful non-armed populations living in the secure areas of the authorities Israeli.
He stressed the importance of ensuring the continuous flow of humanitarian aid, including medical equipment and food, to the affected areas, and supporting the United Nations Rescue and Work Office (UNRWA) in its mandate to assist civilian populations.
Reopening of the Moroccan Embassy in Damascus
In a notable diplomatic move, King Mohammed VI announced the reopening of Morocco’s embassy in damascus, which had been closed in 2012.
In realization of this position with regard to our brothers in Syria and as a support for this promising process, the Kingdom of Morocco has decided to reopen its embassy in damascus, closed in 2012.
The king expressed hope that this step would foster stronger relations between the two countries and their people.
Addressing regional Crises
King Mohammed VI expressed deep concern over the ongoing crises in Yemen, sudan, and Lebanon, reaffirming Morocco’s commitment to supporting political processes aimed at restoring peace and stability.
He emphasized the need to resolve disputes through peaceful means and diplomatic channels, respecting the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Arab nations.
Economic Cooperation and Integration
the king highlighted the importance of strengthening inter-Arab economic and commercial partnerships to unlock development and prosperity for Arab peoples. He pointed to renewable energies, artificial intelligence, and new technologies as key areas for investment.
Investment in renewable energies, artificial intelligence and new technologies offers, in the well understood interest of the peoples of the Arab region, a real opportunity to boost the economic effort, to ensure the transition to economic models green and sustainable and arrange for evolution dynamics at work in the world.
He also lamented the lack of economic integration within North Africa,urging the Union of the Arab Maghreb to fulfill its role in promoting common development.
The North African region remains, despite its natural resources and economic potential, the least economically integrated and the least dynamic in terms of intra-regional exchanges on the scale of the Arab world.
Support for Palestine and Al-Quds
King Mohammed VI, in his capacity as chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, reiterated his commitment to defending the sacred sanctuaries, particularly Al-Quds Acharif (Jerusalem).
He emphasized the importance of supporting the Palestinian National Authority under the leadership of President Mahmoud Abbas.

The Arab leaders at the summit reaffirmed their support for the Al-Quds Committee and the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency, praising morocco’s contributions to these efforts.
