Moroccan Housing Aid Programme Sees Strong Demand from Expats
Rabat, Morocco – A notable portion of Morocco’s housing assistance program is being utilized by Moroccans residing abroad, according to recent data released by the Minister Delegate for relations with Parliament, Mustapha Baitas. As of the end of September 2025, 66,305 individuals have benefited from the program, with nearly a quarter (24%) of prosperous applicants being Moroccans living outside the country.This highlights the program’s appeal to the diaspora seeking to invest in property within their homeland.
The state has disbursed a total of 5.4 billion dirhams in aid, processing almost 200,000 requests through the platform. The program aims to make homeownership more accessible, and data reveals a diverse range of beneficiaries. Young first-time buyers under 30 represent 37% of those approved, while women comprise a notable 47% of recipients.
analysis of the applications indicates a preference for moderately priced homes. The majority – 62% – are for properties valued between 300,000 and 700,000 dirhams, qualifying for aid of 70,000 dirhams. The remaining 38% pertain to homes under 300,000 dirhams,which receive a higher aid amount of 100,000 dirhams. This program comes amidst a challenging period for the Moroccan real estate market, as reported recently, even with increased interest from Moroccans living abroad.
