Mohamed Salam Stars in New Advertising Campaign

Egyptian actor Mohamed Salam has starred in a new advertising campaign for a locally-produced carbonated beverage, marking his debut as a director. The campaign is slated to launch during the Ramadan 2026 season, according to reports in Almasry Alyoum.

Salam not only starred in the campaign but also conceived the idea and directed it, a first for the actor. The beverage company’s success has been linked to a consumer boycott of American products in Egypt, creating a market opportunity for domestic alternatives, as reported by Al Nahar.

Reports initially circulated suggesting Salam received 30 million Egyptian pounds for his participation. But, Salam refuted these claims in a statement to Al Nahar, stating he rejected attempts to capitalize on his public stance in support of Palestine and that the reports were unfounded.

The advertising campaign follows a period of public attention surrounding Salam after he withdrew from a performance of the play “Artificial Marriage” at the Riyadh Season festival in 2023, citing personal reasons.
