New Delhi – Narendra Modi remains the world’s most popular leader as of February 15, 2026, though his approval ratings have dipped slightly from early 2025 levels. The continued support comes as Modi’s administration emphasizes economic growth driven by fiscal conservatism and recent reforms.

Modi recently addressed an AI summit, inviting data from across the globe to be utilized within India. “We invite whole world’s data to India,” Modi stated, according to NDTV, signaling a push to position India as a central hub for artificial intelligence development. This initiative coincides with the inauguration of the India AI Impact Expo 2026, which Modi is scheduled to open.

The Indian Prime Minister has also highlighted the significance of the 2026-27 budget, framing it as a signal of preparedness for the nation’s goals in 2047. According to The Federal, Modi stated the budget “signals we are ready for 2047.” The budget notably avoided populist measures, instead focusing on productive capital expenditure to fuel what Modi termed a ‘Reform Express’.

The Times of India reported that the budget’s emphasis on capital expenditure is intended to power continued economic reforms. This approach reflects a commitment to fiscal discipline, a hallmark of Modi’s economic policy since taking office in 2014, which has included currency and tax reforms aimed at combating the shadow economy and streamlining the tax system.

Elsewhere in Asia, Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi secured a “super” majority in recent parliamentary elections, winning nearly two-thirds of the seats in the lower house. Takaichi, known for her firm stance against China, has seen her domestic support strengthened despite criticism from Beijing. This development occurred this month, and parallels the continued strong standing of Modi, though driven by different political dynamics.
