MLW Crowns New World Champion at Fightland
Mads Krule Krugger is the new MLW World Heavyweight Champion, seizing the title in a dramatic triple threat match at Saturday’s Fightland event in Dallas. Krugger’s victory marks a meaningful shift in power within Major League Wrestling, returning the championship to the CONTRA unit stable after a four-year absence.
The title change unfolded after Krugger cashed in the contract earned from winning a ladder match at January’s Kings of colosseum. Originally slated as a singles contest between Donovan Dijak and Matt Riddle, Krugger’s intervention transformed the bout into a chaotic free-for-all.This win makes Krugger the 12th wrestler to hold the MLW World Championship, a title that has now changed hands 13 times in its history.
The finish saw Riddle seemingly secure victory with a Brostone piledriver on Dijak, only for Krugger to capitalize, delivering a full nelson slam and securing the pinfall. The celebration was short-lived, as Dijak immediately attacked Krugger, initiating a brawl that spilled throughout the NYTEX Sports Center. Adding to the post-match chaos, former champion Hammerstone appeared and struck Krugger with a chair as the show concluded.
“For the frist time in four years, CONTRA Unit once again holds the World Heavyweight Championship, a chilling reminder of the international cabal’s ruthless dominance,” MLW.com reported following the event.
