Supporters and Opponents Mobilize Across the State
Amendment 6 would make it much harder to repeal Missouri’s constitutional allowance of late-term abortion.By requiring an 80% vote in both the House and Senate before certain changes can go back to the people, Amendment 6 would effectively lock those provisions in place. pic.twitter.com/geubv1VGIJ
Recent polling suggests that Missouri could be headed towards another close vote on abortion. The remaining 13% said they were not sure, illustrating a significant percentage of undecided voters.
Republicans Back Amendment with Gender-Affirming Care Ban
Those procedures are already banned under a 2023 state law.
The campaign in favor has largely downplayed the amendment’s impact on abortion in its advertising and messaging, focusing heavily on the gender-affirming care language instead. Andrew Bailey filed paperwork to launch a new group supporting the amendment called Vote Yes on Amendment 3, which is also affiliated with Republican U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley.

If it passes, Missourians would once again be living under a strict abortion ban, similar to Texas.
