jewellery brand Missoma has issued a recall of its Gold Mini Huggie Hoop Earrings due to a “serious chemical risk,” including the potential for cancer. The recall,announced by the UK’s Office for product Safety and Standards,affects earrings sold between January 2023 and October 2024.
The alert states the earrings contain nickel levels exceeding legal limits, posing a health risk to consumers. Prolonged skin contact with excessive nickel can cause allergic reactions, dermatitis, and, in certain specific cases, increase the risk of developing cancer. The recall urges customers to instantly stop using the earrings and return them to missoma for a full refund.
Missoma initiated the recall voluntarily after internal testing revealed the issue. The company is offering prepaid return labels and full refunds to customers who purchased the affected earrings. Approximately 3,384 units where sold in the UK.
