Veteran Argentine television host Mirtha Legrand revealed a long-held desire to have interviewed Juan Domingo Perón, expressing the single question she would have posed to the former president. During a recent conversation, Legrand stated, “I would have liked [to interview] Perón,” and elaborated, ”I would have asked him if he was a happy man.”
Legrand reflected on perón’s public persona, noting, “He had so much power and liked women so much, he was a bit of a womanizer. I would like to know if life had made him a happy man. He had a very hard childhood, I think he had problems with his mother.”
The television icon also recounted two previous encounters with Perón, occurring during relief efforts following an earthquake in San juan, and a meeting with Eva Duarte de Perón at a cocktail event hosted by designer Paco Jamandreu, describing Evita as “a pretty woman, very careful, very refined.”
Legrand emphasized her extensive career and the breadth of figures she has encountered, stating, “I am a big woman. I have seen everyone and everyone has seen me. That is vital.” She noted that governments have historically relied on the support of entertainment figures, citing instances where she was dispatched to Córdoba at their request.
