Tragedy in Minya: Fourth Child Dies as Mystery Illness Claims Family
A cloud of sorrow has descended upon the village of Delja in Minya, Egypt, as a fourth child from the same family has succumbed to a mysterious illness. Rahma Nasr Mohamed,aged 12,passed away on Wednesday,July 16,2025,after her health rapidly deteriorated. Her death leaves only one surviving sibling, who remains under medical care at Sadr Minya Hospital.
The devastating loss follows the deaths of her siblings: Mohamed Nasr Mohamed, 11; Reem, 10; and ahmed, who died shortly after his three brothers.The two sisters, Farha, 14, and Rahma, 12, were initially released from the hospital after showing signs of recovery. Though, their condition worsened, necessitating their readmission. RahmaS passing marks a tragic escalation of the unfolding crisis.
The uncle of the deceased children, Ali Muhammad, described Rahma’s condition as critical, citing persistent vomiting and fever. He was unable to visit his nieces in their final hours due to strict hospital visitation policies. The family was informed of Rahma’s death at dawn, and her body is to be transferred to the University Hospital for an autopsy.
The Minya Security Directorate was alerted to the situation on Saturday when three children were admitted to Dermawas Central Hospital in critical condition, followed by the death of their fourth sibling. The Ministry of health has dispatched a forensic medicine committee to investigate the cause of death, with the autopsy of Ahmed already completed. The community awaits answers amidst a growing sense of dread and uncertainty.
