Emilio Ratelband, the son of Emile, expanded the family’s public appeal on X on October 17, 2026, noting that the uncertainty extends beyond his father. “Many people only read that Emile Ratelband is missing, but we also have no idea where the children are,” Emilio wrote, expressing deep concern for his younger brother and sister as well. His half-sister is Minou, and his other relatives include his younger brother and sister, and Chiara Tagliola. His ex-wife Moon van Buuren also made an appeal at RTL Boulevard. Rolls is another of his children.

The family stated they have lacked normal contact with Emile for an extended period, with Minou noting she has not seen her father in 21 months. According to reporting by RTL.nl, the entrepreneur emigrated to Thailand in 2022, prompting some of his nine children to travel to the country independently over the past two years due to broken communication channels. He has a total of nine children with different women.

RTL.nl reported that family members who traveled to Thailand located a vacant villa. While the family maintained that attempts to reach the Dutch embassy and Thai authorities yielded no clarity, RTL.nl noted that an official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spoke with Emile via a videocall following persistent requests. Officials subsequently informed the children that their father had been spoken to and requested distance, appearing calm and relaxed during the interaction.

Prior to the public appeals, Emilio questioned the authenticity of text messages he received, doubting whether they were genuinely written by his father. According to RTL.nl, Emile later sent an audio message stating that he was doing well, staying abroad, and refusing telephone calls.
