Millonarios FC faces a challenging start to the Clausura 2025 season, with key midfielders David Macalister Silva and Nicolás Arévalo reportedly sidelined due to lingering injuries. This situation impacts the team’s ability to field its strongest lineup for the league premiere.
Despite a two-week break, several players who finished the opening half of 2025 with injuries are still undergoing recovery. At least three players, referred to as “ambassadors,” were unavailable for the Clausura 2025 debut on matchday 3 against Equidad at the Metropolitan Ceiling Stadium.
According to journalist Nicolás Samper on RCN Radio’s “En La Jugada,” both Silva and Arévalo were expected to be fit for the season opener but are experiencing setbacks from recent injuries. Samper provided an estimated timeline for thier return: Silva is anticipated to be available in September, while arévalo is expected back for a match against Llaneros on Monday. The return of Leo Castro is projected for August, and Giordana is reportedly ready for Wednesday’s game against Equidad.
These absences will likely lead coach David González to integrate new signings into the starting lineup. Millonarios has confirmed the arrival of four players for the second half of 2025: goalkeeper Guillermo de Amores, and forwards Cristián Cañozales, Álex stik Castro, and Edwin Mosquera.
