Mike Jackson Faces 8-Week Recovery After Groin Injury Surgery
We lost; I got hurt in the game. I lost my phone in the locker room, and I left my wallet there,
said Mike Jackson, ticking each egregious reason off his fingers as he went. I don’t ever want to go back to Cleveland.
A groin injury sustained in Week 3 against the Cleveland Browns required Carolina Panthers cornerback Mike Jackson to have surgery on Tuesday. Head coach Dave Canales noted that neither Jackson nor cornerback Jaycee Horn, who suffered a quad injury, is expected to miss the entire season, estimating a recovery timeline of about eight weeks. Both players were placed on injured reserve ahead of the Week 4 matchup against the Detroit Lions.
Jackson Faces Eight Week Recovery Period
Canales shared on Wednesday that Jackson faces an 8-week recovery, give or take, depending on how the return-to-play process goes. Jackson is aiming to hit that window and immediately peek ahead at the schedule to see which games he would miss and which games he could return in time for. In the rush to treat his injuries and get home following the game, Jackson also left his phone and wallet at the Browns stadium, though they are being shipped to him.
Mentoring Teammates and Preparing for the Lions
Even with this hurdle, Jackson was back at the facility on Wednesday to offer guidance to younger defensive backs Will Lee III and Akayleb Evans. Jackson shared extensive offseason film study notes on Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown to help his teammates prepare for Sunday Night Football. Jackson also expressed determination to return later in the season and welcome his third child in November.
