The assault occurred at the end of nearly two weeks of fighting. Asghar Jahangir, an Iranian judiciary spokesperson, shared the information. Evin prison is notorious for housing Tehran’s political prisoners. The attack demonstrated that Israel was targeting symbols of Iran’s ruling system, rather than just military and nuclear sites.
