MG4 Electric Hatchback Gains Traction, Production Ramps Up

The new MG4, a globally-focused compact electric hatchback, has seen strong initial‍ demand, attracting over 26,000 orders just 15 days after its debut at the Chengdu Motor Show. SAIC has committed to maintaining quality control standards while aiming to deliver all⁢ ordered vehicles within 39 days. MG will provide compensation to customers for each day of delay beyond this timeframe.

The MG4 is built on the⁣ SAIC E3 platform and features a 120 kW electric motor, ‌enabling a top speed of 160 km/h. Customers can choose between‌ two battery options: a ⁣42.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery offering a range of 437 km, and ⁢a larger 53.9 kWh battery extending‌ the range to 530 km.

Both battery versions ‌support fast⁢ charging, capable of replenishing the battery from 30%‍ to 80% in approximately ⁤20 minutes.

Currently available in China⁣ in‌ five trim levels, the MG4 starts at 65,800 yuan (approximately 7,900 euros).‍ Interior features vary by trim, offering central infotainment screens ranging from 10.25‍ inches to 15.6 ⁣inches, integrated with a digital instrument panel.Higher-spec models utilize the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip and Horizon Journey J6e platform, enabling ⁣advanced ⁢driver-assistance systems including high-speed Noah⁢ (Navigation on Assist), lane keeping assist, automatic lane change, and parking assistance.

While a firm launch date for the European market remains unconfirmed, reports suggest a‍ potential arrival in late 2025.
