Meta to Unveil next-Generation Smart Glasses at Connect 2024
MENLO PARK, CA - September 25, 2024 – Meta is set to debut new smart glasses today at its annual Connect conference, building on its existing partnerships with Ray-Ban and Oakley and potentially introducing glasses with integrated displays. Teh event will be livestreamed beginning at 5 pm Pacific Time.
Meta Connect serves as a key platform for the company to showcase its advancements in virtual and augmented reality technologies. Last year’s event featured the Orion frames, a prototype utilizing waveguide technology for displaying virtual content and relying on a wristband for navigation and a wireless puck for computing power. Developers have been testing the Orion technology for the past year, suggesting a readiness for consumer-facing products.
interested viewers can register for the livestream on the Meta Connect website. Registration provides access to information regarding additional presentations and developer sessions.
Ahead of the official announcement, images of new glasses leaked earlier this week, hinting at a potential “Display” feature – suggesting Meta may be integrating displays directly into the lenses. The company currently offers smart glasses developed in collaboration with Ray-Ban and Oakley, and new models of these are also expected to be revealed.
Live coverage of Meta Connect 2024 will begin at 5 pm Pacific Time today.
