Dakar, Senegal – The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MESRI) has ‌issued a strong reminder regarding the‌ legal framework governing the establishment and operation of private higher education institutions (EPES) in‍ Senegal. Director General ⁤of‍ Higher Education (DGS), ⁢Professor Abdoul Aziz Diouf, emphasized the strict legal oversight⁢ in a recent press release.

According to the⁤ DGS,any private entity seeking to open an ⁢EPES must‌ first submit a thorough application to MESRI for review. The ministry specifically highlighted that private ‌institutions are prohibited⁢ from‌ offering⁣ programs ‍or awarding degrees – including licenses, masters, and doctorates – in sensitive professional fields such as medicine, pharmacy, dentistry (odontostomatology), ‌veterinary medicine, and dental surgery without explicit prior authorization from MESRI.

MESRI is urging both the public and private‌ educational establishments to adhere to Law no.⁤ 94-82, dated⁣ December 23, 1994, concerning the status of ‌private establishments, and Decree No. 2018-850, dated May 11, 2018, which ⁤details the specific regulations for private higher education institutions.

“Failure to ⁣comply with thes regulations will result in the immediate⁢ closure of the establishment by the competent⁣ authority, with potential ⁢for further legal action,” warned Professor Diouf.

This proclamation underscores the governmentS commitment to maintaining quality control and ensuring the integrity of⁢ higher education within Senegal. The regulations aim to protect students and uphold academic standards across all institutions.
