Teen arrested in Fatal Shooting of 16-Year-Old; Community Mourns
A 15-year-old has been arrested and charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following a shooting that claimed the life of 16-year-old Brandon McGhee and injured another 15-year-old. The incident occurred on Thursday at a residence on the 2100 block of Pecan Creek Drive.
The shooting, which police are treating as an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the public, has sent ripples of grief through the community. Neighbors reported hearing loud gunshots and a distressed voice on the phone, with one resident stating, “Hurry up and get here, please.” Upon emerging from their homes, they saw police entering the house where the shooting took place.
The family of the victim, Brandon McGhee, is being supported by the organization “No More Violence,” which has a long history of assisting families who have lost children to violence. Patricia Allen, the founder of the organization, was preparing to meet with McGhee’s family when she learned of the shooting. Allen expressed the profound pain of parents losing their children and the desire to alleviate their burden.
“No More Violence” is not only helping McGhee’s family with funeral arrangements but is also organizing a community vigil to honor the lives lost and provide a space for collective mourning.Allen emphasized the importance of community support, stating, “Sometimes you just don’t have the answers, but as a community, what a community can do, they can pray for those families.”
This incident follows another shooting involving teenagers just days prior, though authorities have stated that the two cases are not believed to be connected.
