Mercedes-Benz Halts EQ Electric Vehicle Shipments to U.S. Amid Inventory Adjustments
German automaker pauses deliveries to clear stock, announces price reductions for select EV models.
Mercedes-benz has temporarily stopped transporting its EQ electric vehicles to the U.S. market as the German car manufacturer works to reduce its existing inventory. During this delivery pause, the company is supplying the U.S. market wiht vehicles manufactured at its Tuscaloosa, Alabama plant.
In conjunction with these inventory adjustments, Mercedes-Benz announced that it will reduce the base price of its EQE and EQS sedan and SUV models in the United States by 4% to 16%, effective from the 2026 model year.
Despite the current slower pace of electric vehicle adoption, mercedes CEO Ola Kaellenius expressed continued confidence in the long-term growth of the U.S. electric vehicle market. “We do not think that demand for electric vehicles is reduced to zero in the United States,” Kaellenius stated during the presentation of the second-quarter results. “We continue to believe that in the middle and long term the acceptance of electric vehicles will increase.”
