Medon Berisha Injury Update: Lecce Confirm Hamstring Injury & Surgery Possible

Lecce defender Medon Berisha will undergo a specialist consultation in Finland next week to determine if surgery is required for a second hamstring injury, the club confirmed today. The injury occurred during a differentiated training session on Saturday, a setback following a previous hamstring issue sustained earlier this season.

The club’s medical report states the latest injury is to the rectus femoris muscle in his right leg, and crucially, is in a different location than the prior injury. Berisha had recently resumed cautious re-athleticization following positive results from earlier instrumental examinations.

U.S. Lecce communicated that Berisha will meet with Professor Lempainen in Finland on Wednesday, with a potential surgical intervention scheduled for Thursday if deemed necessary. The club has stated that Berisha is unlikely to return to play before the end of the current season.

Berisha initially sustained an injury during a Serie A match against Pisa on December 16, 2025, which revealed a second-degree lesion of the rectus femoris in his right thigh. A subsequent MRI scan, performed at the Quarta Colosso Radiology Studio in Lecce, confirmed the initial diagnosis.

The news comes after Lecce suffered a 1-0 defeat to Roma on Saturday, March 22, 2026. The club also announced the exercise of an option for Dalla Costa and that Lupo has been called up to the Italy U17 national team on the same day, March 23, 2026.
