13 Venezuelan Players Remain in MLB Postseason, El Emergente Reports

13 Venezuelan Players Remain in MLB Postseason, El Emergente Reports

October 12, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor Sport

Following the conclusion of the Major League Baseball Division Series, 13 Venezuelan players remain with an option to win a World Series ring this year, El Emergente reported. The postseason field narrows as teams advance through the League Championship Series, with representation split between American and National League rosters.

Milwaukee Brewers Lead National League in Venezuelan Talent

The National League matchups feature the highest concentration of Venezuelan talent in the current playoff bracket. The Milwaukee Brewers enter this phase boasting the largest contingent of Venezuelan players on any single postseason roster this year. Milwaukee’s active group features catchers William Contreras and Jeferson Quero, outfielders Jackson Chourio and Luis Lara, alongside pitcher Antonio Senzatela.

On the opposing side of the National League bracket, the Los Angeles Dodgers carry four Venezuelan players on their organizational depth chart. Pitcher Edgardo Henríquez and catcher Eliézer Alfonzo Jr. hold active roster spots, while infielder Miguel Rojas works to return from back stiffness. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts stated that he expects to include Rojas on the upcoming roster for the League Championship Series.

Injuries sideline several key contributors across the National League contenders. Milwaukee features two players currently residing on the injured list in pitcher Ángel Zerpa and outfielder Luis Matos. The Dodgers deal with a similar roster constraint, missing pitcher Brusdar Graterol due to injury as the series shifts to Milwaukee for consecutive games.

Cleveland Guardians Provide Sole Venezuelan Presence in American League

The American League features a much leaner Venezuelan presence, limited entirely to the Cleveland Guardians. Cleveland carries two Venezuelan players on its active postseason roster in shortstop Brayan Rocchio and pitcher Carlos Hernández. Meanwhile, their opponents in this round, the Tampa Bay Rays, feature zero Venezuelan players on their active playoff roster.

Postseason play continues under a best-of-seven format for both League Championship Series. The National League series opened on a Sunday, while the American League matchups began the following Monday. The 2026 postseason calendar concludes no later than October 20 if the American League pennant race extends to the full seven games, with the World Series scheduled to begin on Friday, October 23.
