The October 23 March in Coatzacoalcos
Dressed in pink uniforms, healthcare workers gathered on the morning of October 23 to walk from Hospital General de Zona número 36 of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) toward Parque Independencia in downtown Coatzacoalcos. Participants carried banners reading “¡Ni una más, ni una asesinada más!” and chanted for justice to ensure the case does not remain unpunished. The demonstration drew young medical professionals, family members who traveled from Paso del Macho, and other local activists, including Lizett, the mother of slain nurse Noriko, and Janeth Francisco, a survivor of attempted femicide.
Prior Reports of Harassment and Threats
Colleagues marching in the demonstration stated that Dr. Ramos had sought help prior to her death due to persistent harassment from her former partner. Estefanía Jiménez Estudillo, a fellow physician, stated that Ramos had informed colleagues about the situation weeks before the killing and had submitted a digital complaint detailing the threats and stalking she endured.
FGE Issues Arrest Warrant for Femicide Suspect
The Veracruz Attorney General’s Office (FGE) is investigating the October 15 death as a femicide. State Attorney General Lisbeth Aurelia Jiménez Aguirre confirmed that an official arrest warrant has been issued for Lenin Salvador “N”, whom family members and coworkers have urged authorities to apprehend. Ana María Ramos, the victim’s sister, appealed to the public to continue sharing the suspect’s image to assist law enforcement in locating him.
