Noordwijk Villa Sale Nets Significant Loss for Maxime and Leroy
Property transaction results in a substantial financial hit despite finding a buyer.
Maxime and Leroy, along with their daughters Claire and Vivé, have finalized the sale of their Noordwijk villa, but the deal comes with a considerable financial setback.
Price Adjustments Lead to Sale
The family initially listed the property in early 2023 for nearly 2.2 million euros. After less than eight months, with no buyer, the villa was removed from the market. A year later, a second attempt was made with a reduced asking price of 1,950,000 euros. This also failed to secure a sale, prompting a further price adjustment to a reported 1,895,000 euros.
Financial Outcome Revealed
The villa has now been sold for 1,950,000 euros, exceeding the last asking price by 55,000 euros. However, this sale represents a loss of approximately 250,000 euros, as a mortgage of 2.2 million euros was reportedly placed on the home. The family is currently residing in temporary accommodation while awaiting completion of their new villa, which they are constructing with Martien and Erica.
The average price of a home in the Netherlands has seen a steady increase, with the latest figures from Statistics Netherlands showing a 5.5% rise in the year up to April 2024 (CBS, May 2024).
