Mattel releases special edition Celine Dion Barbie doll

Mattel releases special edition Celine Dion Barbie doll

October 15, 2026 Emma Walker – News Editor News

Céline Dion joins the Barbie signature collection in a tribute to her 1998 Oscar performance

Fans near and far can soon add a miniature Céline Dion to their collections as Mattel releases a special edition doll honoring the Canadian singer. The 58-year-old artist is being immortalized as part of the Mattel Creations line, styled precisely after her memorable appearance at the 1998 Academy Awards where she performed “My Heart Will Go On” from James Cameron’s film “Titanic.”

Replicating an iconic cinematic and musical moment

The collectible figurine features the long-sleeved navy gown Dion wore during her historic 1998 Oscar performance, alongside a miniature replica of the Heart of the Ocean blue diamond necklace featured in the movie. Mattel unveiled the signature item on Wednesday, October 14, describing the release on Instagram by urging fans not to wait because “she’s limited and she’s legendary.” Dion joins a roster of music legends in the Barbie lineage that includes Whitney Houston, Tina Turner, Mariah Carey, and Elton John. In a statement released after the unveiling, Dion called it a true honor to join the Barbie legacy and expressed hope that the doll will inspire people to express themselves with confidence and follow their dreams.

Returning to the stage amid a rare neurological diagnosis

The doll’s release arrives as Dion continues a high-profile musical comeback following a difficult health battle. In 2022, the singer announced she had been diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder characterized by muscle stiffness and painful spasms that make walking and singing difficult, as detailed by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. Despite those challenges, Dion triumphed on the global stage in 2024 by performing Édith Piaf’s “Hymne à l’amour” from the top of the Eiffel Tower during the opening ceremony of the Paris Summer Olympics. NBC co-host Kelly Clarkson visibly struggled to hold back tears while broadcasting the emotional scene live, praising the singer as a “gold winner for vocal athletes.”
