Massive Explosion Rocks Industrial Park Near Buenos Aires Airport,Disrupting Flights and Injuring Dozens

EZEIZA,argentina – A ⁢powerful explosion⁢ ripped through an industrial park in Ezeiza,Argentina,late Sunday ⁣evening,triggering a massive fire‍ and sending plumes of thick smoke into the air,forcing delays and cancellations at the nearby ⁣Ministro Pistarini International Airport. At least fifteen people were⁣ hospitalized following ⁤the blast and subsequent blaze.

The explosion, which occurred around ⁢9 p.m. local time, was⁣ followed by several smaller​ detonations, according to local media‌ reports. Footage from the⁤ scene shows a colossal fireball mushrooming into the night sky, with flames continuing to climb⁣ skyward as ‌firefighters battled⁢ to contain the⁣ inferno. The‌ affected area includes at least five factories, including a chemical plant ​and a plastics​ plant.

Gaston granados, mayor of Ezeiza, described the scene as “huge,” ⁢stating, “The explosions and fire breaking out ‌in the different factories are huge. We are trying⁣ to control [the fire] and ‌extinguish it but have ‌not been able to ‍so far.”

Local fire chief Fabian garcia acknowledged the complexity of​ the situation, predicting, “It⁤ is ⁣a ​complex fire. It will be a long fire.”

The smoke from the​ fire prompted ​significant⁢ disruptions to air travel, with ​numerous flights scheduled to land at Ministro pistarini International Airport experiencing delays.

The cause of the initial explosion remains unknown, though ⁣authorities believe it originated from materials within one of the factories. The incident is currently under investigation, and further updates will be provided⁢ as they become ⁢available.
