Dublin Man Remanded in Custody Following Alleged Firearm Incident – A man has been remanded in custody after being accused of receiving goods, allegedly including a firearm, from an individual who approached a pizza delivery driver.
The incident occurred in a car park, the location of wich has not been disclosed. Court proceedings revealed that a pizza delivery driver reported to gardaí (Irish police) that a man approached him and, after receiving two pizzas, left and handed one to the accused, identified as Mr. Lynch. CCTV footage reportedly showed what appeared to be a firearm in the possession of the individual who initially approached the driver.
During questioning, Garda Martin acknowledged to defense solicitor eoin Lysaght that an identification parade had not been conducted. He also stated that the area where the exchange took place was sparsely populated at the time. crucially, no firearm was recovered during the examination.
Mr. Lynch did not make any statements upon his arrest and has not yet formally entered a plea.The court was informed that he is not currently facing charges in relation to any other offenses.
Judge Power indicated the case is highly likely to be transferred to the Circuit Court, which possesses greater sentencing authority. While emphasizing Mr. Lynch’s right to be presumed innocent,the judge acknowledged concerns raised by the defence regarding the strength of the evidence. Despite these considerations, bail was denied.
Mr. Lynch has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear before cloverhill District Court on August 14th, pending directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.Legal aid has been granted to ensure he has adequate legal representation.
