Masahiro Sakurai, the visionary game designer behind the Super Smash Bros. series and Kirby, will be the subject of a six-chapter manga detailing his life and career. Titled Learn About People and Work Through Manga: Masahiro Sakurai – Making the World More Fun with Games, the biographical work offers an intimate look at the creator’s journey, from his early inspirations to establishing his own studio.
The manga arrives as Sakurai continues to exert a notable influence on the gaming landscape, even following his stepdown from directing new Super Smash Bros. content. The release provides fans and aspiring developers alike with a unique insight into the mind behind some of gaming’s most beloved franchises, chronicling the origins of Kirby and Smash Bros., the founding of his company Sora Ltd., and his broader impact on modern game growth.
The six chapters will cover the following key periods: “Boy Sakurai and Games,” “The Birth of Kirby of the Stars!,” “The Beginning of the Great Battle,” “Sora Limited Company Established!,” “Inheritance,” and “A Light for the Future.” The book will also include industry commentary and a complete timeline of Sakurai’s career.
The manga is scheduled for release in Japan on November 18,with a digital version also planned. As of this writing, an international release date has not been announced.
